Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Secretary of State John Kerry, made a much-celebrated appearance today with her husband at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Hearing regarding Syria. According to a Sept. 3 report on NBCNews.com, this was her first public event since before her seizure on July 7.
Heinz Kerry, 74, suffered a seizure at home and was hospitalized for 3 weeks. She is expected to make a full recovery.
The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Bob Menendez, acknowledged her appearance and welcomed her, and her husband, the central witness at this hearing, also expressed his happiness that she could be there.
Sen. John McCain also said kind words regarding her recovery, and then he apologized for what he was getting ready to do to Secretary Kerry, his former long-time colleague in the Senate. McCain subjected Kerry to some intense questioning regarding the Obama Administration's handling of actions in Syria.
