Theatre Under the Stars announces 2013-2014 season

Houston's very own musical theater company, Theater Under the Stars, recently announced its upcoming 2013-2014 season, which will feature some classic favorites, some brand new traveling shows, and at least one Houston premiere! Whether you favor the classic Evita, written by world-famous Andrew Lloyd Webber and beloved for years, or you prefer the brand new production of Elf, based off of the hilarious Will Ferrell movie, there is something for everyone in this upcoming theater season. Priscilla Queen of the Desert

This hysterically raunchy musical comedy, based off of the movie of the same title, will open the TUTS season in September. The story of three best friends who take a dilapidated bus into the middle of the Australian Outback on a quest for true love will have everyone rolling in the aisles! This production was the winner of the 2011 Tony for Best Costuming, and you'll believe it once you see the more than 500 dazzling costumes!



Just in time for the holidays, TUTS brings Elf to life on the stage! Based off of the hit Will Ferrell movie, Elf tells the story of a young orphan, raised on the North Pole, and his search to find his father in New York City during the holiday season. The show runs December 6-19, so make sure to start your holidays off right with a family trip to the theater!

We Will Rock You

This jukebox musical features more than 20 hit songs from the rock band Queen. Lovers of 80's music won't be able to stop themselves from singing along to such hits as "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and, of course, "We Will Rock You." The show runs January 22 - February 2, 2014.

First playing in London, this show is the genius of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber added to the classic MGM film "The Wizard of Oz." All of the classic favorites are present - "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "We're Off to See the Wizard," for example - along with three brand new tunes from Andrew Lloyd Webber. Tap your heels together and come along, because there's no place like the theater!

Evita TUTS


Composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice, Evita tells the tragically true story of Eva Peron's rise out of the poorest neighborhoods in Argentina to her role as first lady. Follow the beauty in her ambitious dreams as she becomes a champion for the poor and falls for the trappings of her new station. Evita runs May 6-18, 2014.

The Little Mermaid

Houston's Theatre Under the Stars is one of only five theaters in the entire United States who have been granted permission to stage a production of Disney's The Little Mermaid, which has enchanted New York audiences for hundreds of performances. A great family production, with all of your favorite tunes from the Disney movie, this will be a great way to start off your summer with a splash! The Little Mermaid plays June 13-26, 2014.
