Romance goes both ways here ladies. If you expect your man to get you something special, then you should also make sure not to get him cologne that smells like your father. How do you say you care without spending a ton of money?   • Listen carefully. If your relationship is doomed and you are ready to end things, there is no reason to break your boyfriend or girlfriend's heart on Valentine's Day. Skip the gift, or just have a low-key dinner and then do the deed on the 15th or 16th. One more day isn't going to make a difference, and you don't have to cough up a lot of money for a big gift. Just wait a day. It may not seem like much, but its the nice thing to do.
  • A quick stroll through the back section of Spencer's Gifts (or the front section of any Fascinations store) may result in a lot of laughs, but it's likely to result in a lot of awkward “gee thanks” and long dramatic pauses where no one knows quite what to say. In reality, that $20 you just dropped on a glow-in-the-dark personal massager, is just money thrown down the drain.
