  • In June of 2009, Palm came out with what was supposed to be the ultimate iPhone killer. It had a touchscreen and even a keyboard. The problem was that most of the units released were defective in one way or another. 
  • In 2012, Sprint released the very first 4G phone -- the HTC EVO 4G. The 4.3-inch 480 x 800 pixel resolution screen was considered groundbreaking at the time. Still, it was no iPhone.  
  • In 2011, Samsung came close to "killing" the iPhone with the Galaxy S2. However, the 480 x 800 pixel resolution screen was considered outdated by the time the smartphone reached U.S. shores in late 2011. 
  • In 2009, Motorola released the groundbreaking Motorola Droid. The 854 x 480 pixel resolution display was sharper than the iPhone's screen, at the time. However, the awful keyboard made the Droid useless at times. 
  • In 2012, Samsung finally killed the iPhone with the Galaxy S3. The 720p Super AMOLED screen, the updated Android operating system, and the super fast processor finally made people say, "Apple who?"

In 2009, Motorola released the groundbreaking Motorola Droid. The 854 x 480 pixel resolution display was sharper than the iPhone's screen, at the time. However, the awful keyboard made the Droid useless at times.
