There are many things to enjoy about spring, especially in Dallas. There will be no more crazy ice storms, making 635 a little less dangerous. You will be able to visit all of the amazing DFW parks and patios, while wearing shorts and that tank top you've been dying to show off. Music lovers, however, should be warmed by the thought of all the great new albums that will serve as their soundtrack, as they emerge from hibernation.

Spring into new music by keeping an eye out for the following albums - listed in order of release date - as they ripen for release the next few months. This is going to be a great season for music.

Ital Tek - Mega City Industry EP

Release Date: April 7, 2014

Ital Tek starts the list off with his upcoming release Mega City Industry EP. Ital specializes in producing dark and atmospheric electronic music. Most past releases keep to a specified album theme. It will be interesting to see how an urban industrial emphasis will influence the sound of this newest EP.

SOHN - Tremors

SOHN - Tremors

Release Date: April 7, 2014

English multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Christopher Taylor aka SOHN has been teasing fans recently with the singles 'Artifice' and 'Lessons.' Teasing is the appropriate word, because both singles are emotional, warm, and simply breathtaking. If 'Artifice' is any hint as to how Tremors will sound, fans of emotional electronica should be in for a real treat.

Todd Terje - It's Album Time

Release Date: April 8, 2014

Many have been waiting around ten-years for disco music producer Todd Terje to release a full-length album of his own. Well, the time has finally come and it is incredible. Even though it hasn't yet officially been released, It's Album Time is currently available for streaming here through iTunes Radio.

Chet Faker - Built on Glass

Chet Faker - Built on Glass

Release Date: April 15, 2014

Probably most well known for his soulful and raw cover of 'No Diggity,' Chet Faker has been booming in popularity lately. His multiple performances at SXSW might have something to do with that. At any rate, his new album Built on Glass should prove to be the perfect follow-up to his rise to fame. I'm sure Chet's mellow and bass-heavy vocals will paint another beautiful picture over crispy yet ambient instrumentals in what is sure to be a great release.

Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots

Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots

Release Date: April 22, 2014

Haven't heard of Damon Albarn? Oh, but you have. The Gorillaz and Blur frontman has semi-anonymously stayed at the forefront of the music industry the past couple of decades. Taking both bands to the pinnacle of success, this long anticipated solo project has the potential to be something truly incredible. How will Damon sound stripped down without the entrancing Gorillaz imagery or the cultural relevancy of Blur? I for one am excited to find out.

Wye Oak - Shriek

Wye Oak - Shriek

Release Date: April 29, 2014

In 2011 Wye Oak stole my heart and a spot on every playlist I created with their tremendously powerful single 'Civilian.' In fact the entire album Civilian was a treasure. The gypsy style of indie rock sets this Baltimore duo sets them apart in what is otherwise a densely saturated market. It's been three long years of waiting, but the time has finally come to see what the band has been up to.

SBTRKT - Transitions

SBTRKT - Transitions

Release Dates: May 5, May 19, and June 2, 2014

Little Dragon teamed up with SBTRKT on the track 'Wildfire' on their 2011 self-titled album. It is considered by many to be one of the best electronic singles released that year. Their newest full length release will come in three parts, appropriately titled Transitions I, Transitions II, and Transitions III. The three EP release dates are listed sequentially above this paragraph. I'm not sure what to make of the fragmented release. At the very least it means fans will receive a steady stream of of fresh SBTRKT tracks over the course of a month.

Coldplay - Ghost Stories
Coldplay - Ghost Stories Ghost Stories album cover [Parlophone/Atlantic]

Coldplay - Ghost Stories

Release Date: May 19, 2014

All 40-Year Old Virgin jokes aside, Coldplay has been one of the biggest rock bands in the music industry, since they came on the scene in 1996. Each album has masterfully captured a different part of the indie music genre; they are always developing and progressing their sound. At a critical point of when new styles of electronic production have been breaking into the mainstream - namely dubstep and house - you can't help but wonder, if the one time 'parachuters' will let it influence their iconic sound. It will also be interesting to see how frontman Chris Martin will let his recent split with Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow will affect Ghost Stories.

The Antlers - Familiars
The Antlers - Familiars Familiars album cover [Anti-/Transgressive]

The Antlers - Familiars

Release Date: June 17, 2014

Familiars could potentially be one of the best albums of 2014. The powerful voice of The Antlers' frontman Peter Silberman could quell even the most tumultuous moment. Familiars first single 'Palace' brings the point home to show fans that they still have the goods.

Sam Smith - In the Lonely Hour
Sam Smith - In the Lonely Hour In the Lonely Hour album cover [Capitol]

Sam Smith - In the Lonely Hour

Release Date: June 17, 2014

Sam Smith shouldn't need an introduction. With a busy international tour and a recent musical appearance on Saturday Night Live, Sam is popular. His career took a great turn by pairing up with the brothers Disclosure this past year on their track 'Latch,' which has more than thirty-three million views at the moment. Both Sam and Disclosure's impact on the industry has been monumental. Millions will be anxiously awaiting what will be Sam's first full length effort, In the Lonely Hour.
