If you have a toddler at home while you’re homeschooling older children, you already know how difficult it can be to take care of the needs of all of your children at the same time. Your toddler wants to play. He or she enjoys getting into things, making messes, and being right in the middle of whatever the big kids are doing. Anything else would be denying toddler nature—and probably leads to temper tantrums and tears.
It doesn’t make sense to send your toddler off to daycare while you’re keeping your big kids at home, but at the same time, there are days when taking care of the needs of all of your children can feel overwhelming. You can have the best kids in the world, but they’re still going to have trouble focusing when their little brother is crawling up in their laps and trying to push the buttons on their computer, or take their pencils away to color with them, or whining about wanting to have whatever it is that they’re using at the moment. Luckily, there are some things that you can do to streamline the process a little bit—and some things that you can do to ensure that you don’t end up pulling your hair out by the end of the day.
