Anna Netrebko's much anticipated debut as Lady Macbeth opens the season and is followed by operatic classics, such as "Carmen," "The Tales of Hoffmann," and "Cavalleria Rusticana," and Met premieres, including Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta" and Rossini's "La Donna del Lago."
Unfortunately, the Met's exciting new production of contemporary composer John Adams' "The Death of Klinghoffer," originally scheduled to air worldwide on November 15, 2014, was cancelled.

World renowned stars, Zeljko Lucic and Anna Netrebko portray the fatal couple in Verdi's "Macbeth." This run will mark Netrebko's debut in the challenging role of Lady Macbeth. The supporting roles of Banco and MacDuff will be sung by bass Rene Pape and tenor Joseph Calleja respectively.
Le Nozze di Figaro
Although the second HD transmission, this new production of Mozart's beloved comedy, "Le Nozze di Figaro," will open the Met's 2014-2015 season. After a successful run in the title role of "Prince Igor" last season, baritone Ildar Abdrazakov will lead the performance in the title role of Figaro for HD audiences on October 18, 2014.
Richard Eyre's visually stark production of "Carmen" returns to the Metropolitan Opera's Live in HD Series after great success in 2010. Rising opera star, Anita Rachvelishvili, stars as the voluptuous gypsy and tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko sings the passionate role of Don Jose.
The Barber of Seville
Rossini's delightful comedy, "The Barber of Seville," returns to theaters on November 22, 2014. British baritone Christopher Maltman stars in the title role and is joined by American favorites Isabel Leonard and Lawrence Brownlee in the respective roles of Rosina and Count Almaviva.
Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg
James Levine conducts Wagner's "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" on December 13, 2014 in a revival of Otto Schenk's traditional production. Johan Reuter takes on the marathon role of Hans Sachs and is joined by Johan Botha and Annette Dasch.
The Merry Widow
Franz Lehar's playful operetta comes to life with a stellar cast and glittering production by celebrated Broadway director and choreographer, Susan Stroman. Renee Fleming heads the cast, supported by baritone Nathan Gunn and Broadway actress, Kelli O’Hara.
The Tales of Hoffman
Another repeat broadcast, Bartlet Sher's stunning production of "The Tales of Hoffmann," will feature again on January 31, 2015. The Met brings a new cast to the screen with Vittorio Grigolo, who recently starred in the Met broadcast of "La Boheme," as Hoffmann and acclaimed baritone Thomas Hampson singing the four villains. Musical director James Levine will lead the performance.
The Met presents a rare double bill on February 14, 2015: Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta" and Bartok's "Bluebeard's Castle." Anna Netrebko stars yet again this HD season, but this time as the blind Iolanta. Nadja Michael and Mikhail Petrenko feature in the two-man psychological thriller, "Bluebeard's Castle."
La Donna del Lago
The Met premieres Rossini's tragic opera, "La Donna del Lago," with some of the world's best bel canto singers. Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Florez, both known for their thrilling virtuosity and vocal charisma, will bring this rarely performed opera into the spotlight on March 14, 2015.
This double bill of Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" and Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci," is one of the pinnacles of Italian verisimo opera and will feature as the last broadcast of the Live in HD Series on April 25, 2015. The two one-act classics will both star Marcelo Alvarez. Versatile soprano, Eva-Maria Westbroek costars in "Cavalleria Rusticana" and Patricia Racette will take on the role of the ill-fated lover, Nedda.
