The 2013 Daytona 500 started at 1:18 p.m. on Feb. 24, with actor James Franco telling drivers to start their engines in the annual 200-lap, 500 mile race at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

Danica Patrick is the first woman to start from the pole position in a Sprint Cup Series race, making history in Sunday's race. She started the race alongside Jeff Gordon.
Fox is broadcasting the entire race and started their live coverage at noon ET.
The Daytona 500 kicks off the racing year for NASCAR and is one of the most highly-rated and most watched race throughout the year.
