Drag yourself out of bed, step on the cat, head downstairs, throw a pot of coffee on and light a cigarette. Ah, mornings.
And according to recent data compiled by Bloomberg, the best part about waking up is still Folgers in your cup. It has been crowned the number one brand in America followed by good to the last drop Maxwell House and Starbucks way down the list.
The iconic Folgers label began in 1850 in San Francisco with its roots going all the way back to the 1600s. In 1908 the company built a roasting plant in Kansas City that is still in operation today. That was the year they introduced Mrs. Olson as their spokesperson and the nosy Swedish neighbor has been hanging around kitchens in the neighborhood ever since.
“Jim never has a second cup of coffee at home.”
In 2008, Folgers was acquired by Smuckers of jelly and jams fame. “Besides the jams and Jif Peanut Butter, Smuckers also manufactures Dunkin’ Donuts brand coffee.”
Enough with the history lesson already.
I enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning but it doesn’t stop there. The list has three recipes that use coffee in them. Check them out; they’re the best part of waking up.
