It allows business owners to share their expertise, disseminate news about their company, and bring in expert voices to help educate their customers. It's also a phenomenal tool for SEO purposes. By focusing on long-tail keywords such as, "what are the best brakes for my car?", a business is able to attract customers who are searching for specific problems. By optimizing these questions, a business owner can ensure that the visitors to his blog are customers ready to buy.

2. Optimized meta

Meta titles and descriptions don't give you a ton of benefit in SEO if they're written well. But they will damage you if they're written poorly or have been duplicated. This is more of a preventative step. By taking care of your meta, you'll ensure that you won't be penalized by Google. Meta descriptions are also a great selling tool for your website. It's a snippet of information that your customers will see when searching for your business. So, be sure to include calls to action, rich information, and selling points. Google loves to see images on a website. They believe that images give users the best experience and will rank sites higher that contain images and have them optimized. Ensure that you have an optimized image that is contextual to your site on every single page. When I say optimized, I mean that each image should have an alt tag associated with it. If you're working in WordPress, you can set the alt tag by simply clicking on the image, and giving it an alternate description.

4. Content

Every website needs rich and engaging content. If you don't have content, you're dead in the water. Go through every page on your site and ensure that there is at least 300 words of unique and engaging content. This is a huge task for sites that have never optimized their content before. It could take weeks to accomplish. But the payoff is huge. Nothing helps a site more than strong content with keyword rich text. Take the time now to optimize your site's content.

5. Internal linking

Have you noticed when sites link to one another they do it with anchor text? Anchor text is the text that is used in a hyperlink. For instance, the anchor text in this next link is "internet marketing": internet marketing. See how it lights up in blue. This type of linking is also helpful within a website. You should have links pointing to different sections in your website and you should give those links rich anchor text. This will help the Google bots understand what you're linking to and why you're linking to it. It will give your site more context in Google's eyes and increase your visibility in the search results.
