Everyone loves a good movie, right? Where good always triumphs over evil and the movie has a happy ending. However, not all movies that Hollywood produces these days have those characteristic traits.
Movie Guide is a family-based entertainment watchdog group, and they rate movies that have faith-based themes such as redemption and hope. Movie Guide says over the past 25 years these kinds of movies have become more popular.
According to Fox News in 1985, faith-based movies only compromised one percent of the movies Hollywood made. By 2009, that number jumped to 54 percent. Movie Guide also says in 2009,
films with no redemptive quality made an average $24 million dollars, while films with the most redemptive themes averaged $74 million.
Movies that are faith-based are about the real-life struggles ordinary people have in their walk with God. They experience the loss of loved ones, sorrow, happiness and hope. While most faith-based movies are about ordinary people, some are about people like William Wilberforce. He was a Christian man who struggled with life but his determination ended slavery in England.
Ultimately faith-based movies center around issues about life but have an answer which is contained in the word of God. You can use this list as a reference point for some good morally based movies your whole family can enjoy. If you have a Facebook account please be sure to vote in the poll of what your best loved bible based movie is.
