Ten nonprofits win Colorado Gives Day trivia contest

Ten Colorado nonprofits discovered a surprise reward in trivia during a Colorado Gives Day contest.

The organizations were the beneficiaries of a trivia contest held in conjunction with Colorado Gives Day by the Community First Foundation, founders of online giving event. Sponsor FirstBank awarded the prizes when people correctly answered Colorado Gives Day questions in December on First Bank’s Facebook page.

Each trivia winner picked a favorite charity to receive the prize.

They had a larger field of participants than ever before. Colorado Gives Day 2012 drew a field of 1,246 nonprofits, in contrast to 932 nonprofits in 2011. Last year, Community First Foundation distributed a record $15.7 million to the state’s nonprofits. More than 69,000 donations were received as a result of the 24-hour online giving event.

Nonprofits received all of their Colorado Give Day donations in December 2012. They also received a proportionate share of the $300,000 incentive fund from FirstBank.

In addition to the one-day event, the nonprofits may raise funds throughout the year on the Giving First online portal.
