If one has ever heard that “variety is the spice of life”, then he/she must know that when it comes to Thai food, variety is not a problem. Overshadowed by the more populous Mexican restaurants, Thai places can often be forgotten about. However, Thai food is Mexican foods’ more flavorful and deliciously dangerous counterpart, considering at most Thai places a spice level of 5 has taste buds throbbing for hours. By far the best places found to date are the proverbial hole in the walls, occupants of mini shopping centers with a loyal cliental made entirely from word of mouth. Family style dishes satisfying herbivores and carnivores alike, Thai food is the underdog of the culinary world, with the abiltiy to make people into believers with a simple flick of the wok.
To find the best places in San Diego may take weeks if not months, as there are far more Thai restaurants than any San Diegan may realize. Not to mention that there is the balance between crave worthy food and reasonable prices, which depending on the area could have one pulling their hair out searching. Well some personal exploration of such Thai restaurants was done and the favorites have been decided; J&T Thai in Linda Vista, The Original Sab-e-lee in San Diego county, Bangkok Bay in Solana Beach, and Amarin Thai in Hillcrest. These places cover the range of quick and cheap to most authentic and most date worthy spot.
Choose your spice level, pick up the chopsticks, and be prepared for a culinary Thai ride.
