The upcoming weekend will feature unsettled conditions, with an increase in temperatures and humidity levels. A warm front was just southwest of the region this morning, making only slight northeastward progress. Some showers, and a few thunderstorms had broken out over portions of the Mohawk Valley, Capital Region, and central New York this morning in response to the northward lifting of the frontal surface. This front will oscillate north/south across the region for the bulk of the coming weekend.
Deeper moisture, albeit not impressive moisture content by any means, will reside to the north and west of the immediate Capital Region through Sunday. Thus, better chances for showers look to occur in these areas. That is not to say that the Capital Region will escape without the threat for some shower activity from time to time. Abundant cloud cover is expected through the coming weekend, with a few peaks of sunshine from time to time. Temperatures look to be above normal by a good 5 to 10 degrees.
A more pronounced chance of rainfall looks to occur Sunday evening and into Monday as a cold front sweeps across the region. This front will have absorbed a tropical system, currently over the Gulf of Mexico, and the moisture from the tropical entity should aid in bringing some enhanced rainfall to the region to start the new work week on Monday.
The cold front passes through the region on Monday, followed by high pressure on Tuesday. Another extended period of fair, dry, and mild conditions looks to visit the region for the middle and later portions of next week.
