Spicer Orchards is the place to be this time of year. They have many you pick fruits throughout the year, but they probably the best known for their apples. Spicer Orchards have been in business in Michigan for five generations. When it was first started many years ago, the first farm was located close to the city of Detroit, and their fruit was transported by horse and wagon. They have moved a few times in the years since, and settled in their current location north of Hartland in 1967. Their current location has had a few renovations over the years. Their original market was located in an 100 year old barn, and their donut room was once in a silo. In 1980, their Victorian Carriage House inspired market was built. Each weekend from early September through Oct 31, a Fall Festival is held for their visitors. During those days there are many fun family activities such as inflatables, pony rides, train rides, the animal barn, corn maze and more. The corn maze is open daily from 9 a.m- 6 p.m. On the weekend of September 21 and 22nd they will be holding their Wine and Harvest festival which will also include a craft show and other activities.
Many types of fruits are available to pick from June through the end of the year. The picking season starts off with Strawberries around June 7th. Cherries, raspberries and blueberries are the stars in July. Fall raspberries start around Aug 1st, and are picked through mid October.
