A group of people will be stopping in Maury County on Sunday. So what you may ask? The people in this group are cyclists and have a good cause on their hearts. They are cycling to raise funds for poverty housing around the world. Time spent has been generously given to benefit the fundraising goals. The members come from various professions and walks of life. Their hopes are to spread the message about a Christian non-profit that is working for the above-mentioned cause. The Bicycle Adventurers had their start in Georgia and are going all the way to Canada. (See attached website for more information.)
The Bible encourages generosity. Several Scriptures can be found promoting the topic of being generous. One in particular states, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” (2 Corinthians 9:6) The cyclists are being extremely generous with their time devoted to helping others in their time of need. Their time is generating resources to accomplish a noteworthy goal. Jesus exhorts believers to give and says it is a blessing when they do.
Jesus warned against greed and being selfish. Greed makes a person’s heart evil and sinful. He told of a way to make one’s heart good and absent from such evil. “But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.”(Luke 11:41) Challenge: Believers, be as generous as you can! Let God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit lead you!
