BOCA RATON, FLORIDA - Nestled in Boca Raton, Florida (about 40 miles north of Miami) lies the little shelter that could, Tri County Humane Society. It's a haven for the homeless, the neglected, the strays, the abused and the unwanted among the dog and cat population. Hard-working staff and dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to rescue animals on a shoe-string budget, funded only by donations and fundraisers. This private, no-kill shelter saves hundreds of lives per year and once an animal is blessed enough to land here, it's finally, truly SAFE.
Tri County rescues from hoarding cases, 'kill' shelters, and disaster areas (most recently, Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy and victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes). They rescue strays, the lost, and those relinquished, sadly, by their families. Their little buildings are always full and always bustling as they offer medical treatment and love and prepare their 'guests' to find their happy, forever homes.
When you adopt a dog from Tri County Humane Society, TWO lives have been saved.....that of your new pet, and that of another that can now take its safe place at Tri County.
Scroll through a few of the faces waiting at Tri County now. And whether you adopt one of them or not, visit Tri County's website and offer a donation to help them continue their amazing work. Tri County is located at 21287 Boca Rio Road, Boca Raton, Florida. (561) 482-8110.
