A Show Jumper, must have a good conformation to successfully jump in today's Grand Prix competitions. The horse requires a build providing an highly adjustable stride, ranging from neat and tidy to ground covering . The animal is to have a short back. A resulting, compact horse will be easier to be navigate through tricky distances and the challenging placement of rails found in a Grand Prix Show Jumping course. An equine with a ton of natural scope is essential.

"Management, at its discretion, may allow competitors to compete without riding coats. If a riding coat is not worn, riders must wear a shirt with a collar or a choker, neatly tucked into riding breeches. A windbreaker jacket or raincoat may be worn if conditions require. In all cases, riders must appear neatly attired to appear before the public or be subject to penalty of elimination by the judges .... A windbreaker jacket or raincoat may be worn in inclement conditions."
The best breeds for Show Jumping are Thoroughbreds, Sport Horses or Warmbloods.
