My friend in India, Vasanti, cooks the best Indian food I have ever tasted. For five winters, Vasanti has kept me full and healthy despite the havoc India's food can wreak on a Western stomach. She makes chapatis, curries, and foods that have no name with ingredients so fresh they are picked the morning she buys them. She has never been to a super market and cannot quite grasp the concept.
