SCN 7/23/14: X-Men, Marvel Studios and Comic-Con Posters

Today SCN is full of two things: Comic-Con and posters. It is not a surprise that the Comic-Con would be circling the movie world today seeing that the event begins tomorrow. Nevertheless, though major announcements will be coming this weekend, there is plenty on the San Diego Comic-Con to talk about today. However, for the sake variety, there are some stories that do not have to do with Comic-Con; though two of do deal with superheroes. In any case, lets get things underway in the super powered edition of SCN.

X-Men Days of Future Past gets it’s release date for Blu-Ray/DVD

The X-Men saw major success  this year with X-Men: Days of Future Past. The latest film in the Marvel franchise has been garner as one of the best films in the series by both fans and critics. So you can imagine that many would be excited to hear just when the film would be hitting the blu-ray and dvd front. Well that day is today as the 20th Century Fox has just announced the release date of Days of Future Past. According to  the report, the X-Men film will be hitting Blu-Ray/DVD on October 16th; and arrive for digital download on September 23rd. While it is good to know when we can expect to grab a copy of Days of Future Past, a bigger question is does this date include the Extended Version of the film? It was establish that Fox plans to release a extended version of the film. As it turns out there will be a deluxe edition of the film that will be released with other versions of the film. Whether that is same thing is anyone’s guess at this time.  Be that as it may, X-Men fans can get their copy of this major blockbuster later this fall.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be hitting theaters next week, and the world cannot get enough of this film. If you are pondering to either see this film in a normal theater or in IMAX, then perhaps this may sway your decision. Released from the IMAX Corporation is a poster that you can get by going to opening night of Guardians. Like most IMAX poster, this one sheet is stylish and shows off the film in a cool way. The only way to get this poster is seeing Guardians of the Galaxy next week in IMAX.

Sinister 2 haunts theaters in August 2015

In 2012, moviegoers were frighten by the film Sinister. Directed by Scott Derickson, the horror film starred Ethan Hawke as an investigator who discovers that a variety of deaths were caused by a dark entity. Now in 2015, the dark force returns for another frightening time in Sinister 2. This upcoming sequel will be directed by Ciaran Foy while Derrickson will help with the movie’s script.  What will happen in this terrifying continuation. The only way to find out is stay tune for more on Sinister 2; hitting theaters on August 21, 2015.

Comic-Con reveals new poster for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

Comic-Con is in full gear today as studios are getting as much as they can out before panels begin tomorrow. The likes of The Hunger Games is no exception of being showcased early. Today, Lionsgate as revealed a new poster for the film. The poster is a propaganda pic showing off The Capitol’s armed forces. The poster also features a variety of symbols, which includes the mockingjay symbol. This poster seems to be under the same influence of this film’s interesting advertisement. One can only imagine what Lionsgate will release next. Perhaps the full trailer. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 hits theaters on November 21st.

Yesterday, Warner Bros released new images for the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road. Today, thanks to Comic-Con, the upcoming action blockbuster has revealed the first poster for the film. The teaser image features Mad Max standing by with his car facing the sun and the barren wasteland,  and the tagline “It’s A Lovely Day” is featured at the top of the poster. It’s gritty, it’s dirty and it is everything you should expect from Mad Max. Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters on May 15, 2015.

With so many movies getting the spotlight for Comic-Con, it is no surprise that Ant-Man will also be featured this weekend. Though the film has had its fair share of controversary for the past few months, that does not seem to be stopping the film from being showcased at the event. To show fans and moviegoers that Ant-Man will be at Comic-Con, an exclusive poster as been released for the Marvel film. It may not be the official poster, but the image certainly shows off Ant-Man as well as giving us a look at the costume's final design. It is stylish poster for the upcoming film. Ant-Man hits theaters on July 17, 2015.

Marvels reveals another release date for upcoming films

Marvel Studios is as it again. Earlier this week, the superhero based studio revealed release dates for their upcoming films. While the projects are still a mystery, Marvel is certainly finding spots to release their movies. The latest date picked from the studio is May 4, 2018. This was originally slated for The Amazing Spider-Man 4. However, since Sony Pictures revealed that will be release The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in that year, the studio lost that original date and left it open for Marvel. The question is what could take that spot? Hopefully.that will be answered this weekend at Comic-Con during Marvel Studios' panel; or at the very least we get an idea of what these untitled projects will be.
