Satan-themed movies: The devil made me do it

There are so many films out there than explore the very nature of evil. Whether you believe he is the lightbringer or the bringer of pain, the devil (Satan, Lucifer, Old Scratch—hope you guess my name) continues to take center stage in all media, even as the decline in the belief in God continues to expand.

With respect to film, the devil has been there from the beginning. Just a sampling of worth-watching films includes Amityville Horror, Prince of Darkness (Carpenter’s take on the devil), Devil’s Advocate, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Devil, The Ninth Gate, The Rite, and Demons (from Italy).

This list compiles the top-three entries dedicated to the exploration of Satan.
