With the devastating fire in Seaside Heights on September 12, 2013 several upcoming events are scheduled there on upcoming weekends. The Seaside Half and 5K is still scheduled – Sunday is the last day to pre – register for the half or the 5k. The events are in the process of assessing their situation and we will pass on information on the race status soon. The events will most likely go on as they will prove like runners that they are “stronger than the fire and the storm.”
Tanner’s Run has already confirmed their event in Seaside Park on Sunday, September 22nd,. According to Event Organizer Dana Edwards, “Congressman Jon Runyan ex NFL Eagle has been coming to Tanner's Run for the past 3 years and will be there this year.” So come out and show your support and demonstrate that you too are “stronger than the fire and the storm.”
The Race for Respect in Seaside on September 21, 2013 has been cancelled.
The fall road racing season continues with lots of options this coming weekend. There is everything from a Mile in Long Branch to an obstacle race in Wildwood N.J. to choose from.
The weather looks great on both Saturday and Sunday. Many others will take advantage of the weather to get in longer training runs to prepare for the longer half marathons and marathons later in the season.
