Drawing together the multiple, yet relevant definitions of the word cypher to fit its hip hop context narrows the term down to "an encrypted message, delivered in an cyclic fashion containing arithmetic cadence." In other words, a chance for emcees to spit their most bodacious rhymes in an effort to win over the audience and surpass the strengths of their counterparts. South Florida indie music scene influencer, The Foul Hundreds, is providing this exact opportunity to eager and talented emcees this weekend in Round 1 of the Tri-County Battle = the auditions. Indie artists from Miami, Broward and Palm Beach Counties will each have an opportunity to showcase their best for a chance to be one of the three remaining artists to rep their county in the final battle. Once selected, each emcee will shoot a video with Miami heavyweight FXRBES, and the videos will be showcased on TheFoulHundreds.com for supporters, fans and interested parties to vote for who they felt brought their "A" game.
A definite way to shake-up the local industry and create a sense of positive anxiety amongst emcees, the Tri-County Battle will surely be something to look forward to. Check out the list for info on each of the auditions, and keep it locked here for more updates as the battle progresses.
