Rome has surprises, and many of them are in ancient churches. Santa Maria del Popolo is on the north side of the Piazza del Popolo, one of Rome's most famous squares. This poor dearly departed seems eager to show a curious visitor some little known sights in his church and others. Don't pay him! Rome's churches are free, but spirits have been known to beg for donations to their churches' in eternal repair funds.
