The Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery at the University of Nebraska is home to many textile exhibits that shouldn't be missed. The gallery is inside the home ecomonics building on the East campus of University of Nebraska- Lincoln at 35th Street and Holdredge close to the Quilt Museum.
There are four exhibits scheduled for the rest of 2013. African Textiles and Costumes until September 20th, Celebration of Youth XX from September 30th until October 25th, Project Gaudi from November 4th to the 22nd, and Mountains & Ghosts starting December 2nd and running through the end of the year into January are the scheduled exhibits.
In support of the African Textile exhibit of Dr. Hahn and her Malaika Foundation, a gala benefit will happen at the Quilt museum (33rd and Holdredge) on September 27th. African cuisine, music, and fashion will be featured along with a silent and live auction. Tickets can be purchased at http://marketplace.unl.edu/tmfd/ and are $50.00 but $25.00 of it is tax deductible for general admission. Student tickets are $10.00.
