Review: Suave Professionals Natural Infusion product line

See also

Suave Professionals Natural Infusion product series continues the brand's long history of creating quality hair care products at low prices.

Suave, part of the Unilever family of products, provided me with sample bottles of the following assortment of Natural Infusion hair products in return for a honest review.

  • Suave Professionals Natural Infusion All-Day Body with seaweed and lotus blossom shampoo and conditioner for normal to fine hair
  • Suave Professionals Natural Infusion All-Day Body with seaweed and lotus blossom leave-in foam for normal to fine hair
  • Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Moisturizing with macadamia oil and white orchid shampoo and conditioner for normal to dry hair
  • Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Moisturizing with macadamia light oil spray for normal to fine hair
  • Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Anti-Breakage with awapuhi ginger and honeysuckle strengthening light leave-in cream
  • Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Anti-Breakage with awapuhi ginger and honeysuckle anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner for normal to fragile hair

Each Natural Infusion bottle compares itself favorably to an equivalent Pureology hair formula. Other Suave Professionals products have compared themselves to more pricey drug-store brands such as Aveeno, whereas the Pureology brand, made by L'Oreal, sells mainly through hair salons at premium prices starting at $20 to $30 each.

Having never tried Pureology products, I can't speak to whether Suave Professionals Natural Infusion shampoo, conditioner and other items offer the same quality and performance. Having tested the Natural Infusion line, though, I can say that they're definitely worth trying before you spend a boatload of money on high-end salon or drug store options. Suave Professionals Natural Infusion products also contain no parabens or dyes.

The strengthening, anti-breakage Natural Infusion with awapuhi ginger and honeysuckle shampoo and conditioner have a light, subtle fragrance. The shampoo lathered easily and rinsed cleanly. I used just a small dab of the conditioner, and it rinsed easily without leaving a weighty film. It also effectively detangled my hair and left it feeling strong and clean as well as looking shiny and healthy.

I tried the Natural Infusion moisturizing products with macadamia oil and white orchid on my 10-year-old and 4-year-old testers. As with the anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner, the moisturizing ones have a pleasant but not overpowering aroma and left hair smelling clean and fresh. The conditioner also did a fantastic job of detangling hair that normally tangles easily and is hard to comb. Hair washed using the Natural Infusion moisturizing shampoo and conditioner looked smooth and healthy.

The All-Day Body with seaweed and lotus blossom shampoo and conditioner also have a nice, understated scent that doesn't bowl you over but leaves hair smelling clean and fresh. The shampoo created a nice lather and rinsed well. The conditioner rinsed easily and didn't leave a yucky film or weigh down hair, but it detangled impressively like the other conditioning products in the series.

I loved the way the leave-in foam made my hair feel - fuller and softer with more body, yet very touchable with no noticeable residue and certainly nothing stiff or crunchy.

You won't have to pay anywhere near Pureology style prices for a bottle of Suave Professionals Natural Infusion. In fact, you can pick up a bottle of shampoo or conditioner at Walmart for as little as $2.88 for 12.6 oz or $4.98 for 28 oz. The leave-in cream will set you back $4.98 for 6 oz, and the light oil spray costs $5.98 for 3 oz. You'll pay just $4.98 for a 5-oz container of leave-in foam (which looks and behaves like mousse).

Suave Professionals Natural Infusion has options for most hair types and works as well as the more expensive brands I've tried, without the high price.
