Every parent will agree that parenting a child in our society now is a huge challenge. There are more influences on children now than there ever have been that parents have to manage. Parents are often overwhelmed, and need resources for learning parenting skills.
Sarasota is fortunate to have a nonprofit organization in the community that provides educational programs for parents and their children to learn and grow together. Forty Carrots Family Center, located at 1500 S. Tuttle Avenue in Sarasota, supports parents with its comprehensive parenting center. The parenting program, with a large variety of classes each week, is facilitated by professionally trained parenting educators. The classes that are offered support parent/child play experiences, improve parent/child communication, and teach effective discipline methods. The schedule of parenting classes is available online at firstname.lastname@example.org. Parents may register online.
The parenting classes at Forty Carrots Family Center are categorized by ages, starting with newborns. Partners in Play is offered for parents of newborns through 7 months. Classes for parents of children of ages 1-5 years offer creative hands-on play experiences in art and music. Grandparents are welcome to participate.
Books that offer positive parenting information are also a great way for busy parents to learn new skills to manage daily challenges with their children. Some great choices in the List are recommended for parents of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
