While the repairs to the Clairmont Road water main that ruptured on Sept. 4 have been completed, the road repairs continue. Several adjacent or area businesses continue to be affected and traffic is still heavy. Two lanes of Clairmont Road continue to be closed. A DeKalb County repair crew indicated that the two lanes will continue to be closed until at least Sunday or perhaps Monday. The crew had to pour concrete over four feet deep and the concrete has to cure before the area can be opened to traffic.
Initially, the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management issued a boil water advisory for the area because of reduced water pressure, which could result in backflow contamination. However, sampling of the water has been completed and the boil water advisory has been lifted.
