The month of August opens with plenty of excitement for equestrians across the American Midwest. From open shows and reining competitions to jackpot trail rides, popular horseback riding events are abundant.
State and county fairs are in full swing as well, offering 4-H and pony club competitions, horse pulls, driving events, pleasure and speed shows, and much more on this busy midsummer weekend. Now underway near Milwaukee, the Wisconsin State Fair, for example, runs through Sunday, August 11.
A slew of fun horse happenings draw active equestrians from the entire region and beyond. Most of these many mounted contests and clinics run from Saturday, August 3, through Sunday, August 4.
As always, equestrian participants and spectators are advised to call show and event venues ahead to confirm times and other details. Last-minute changes and cancellations may occur.
