This recipe takes only 10 minutes to prepare! Then, the oven does the rest of the work for 20 minutes.
A great place in Raleigh, NC to find honey powder is The Savory Spice Shop of Falls of Neuse Rd.
Non-GMO crescent rolls can be found at Harris Teeter off Durant Rd (and most other Harris Teeter stores).
Apple Braid recipe
- 2 gala or pink lady apples, cored, peeled and diced
- 1 roll crescent rolls, non GMO brand
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp honey powder
- Olive oil spray
- Cinnamon sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ cap vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350*.
Line a cookie sheet with no stick foil.
Take crescent rolls apart and place onto foil (wide ends together).
Press rolls together down the center to create a solid line. This is where you will spoon your filling.
Add sugar, and spices to apples.
Spoon mixture down the center of the lined crescent rolls.
Fold crescent roll tips over filling in a criss cross design.
Spray olive oil over the pastry.
Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon sugar.
Bake for 20 minutes.
While cooling, prepare icing.
Add powdered sugar into a bowl.
Add dabs of water until desired consistency. I like mine pretty thick, like the consistency of canned cake icing. When you place it on top of the warm dessert, it will melt nicely over the sides.
Slice and serve.
