The brain of a psychopath has increased brain activity in specific regions and less in other parts.
Scientific America states; that a large percentage of prisoners have the criteria for being psychopaths. Many are walking around in society; specifically in professions as politicians, business men and the entertainment world.
The University of British Columbia Psychologist, Robert D. Hare has found three traits of a psychopath’s interpersonal deficiencies; grandiose, deceitfulness and arrogance. Affective deficits: lack of guilt and empathy. Impulsive criminal behavior (including sexual promiscuity and stealing) is prevalent in psychopaths. It is also noted that psychopaths, unlike sociopaths, have aggressive and predatory behavior.
Also noted character traits are superficial charm and profound lack of empathy. A higher percentage of psychopaths are men, although the medical community are not exactly sure why. Clearly some are women. The entertainment field will confirm this behavior.
Unlike popular belief psychopaths are not violent, nor are all violent people psychopathic, and are not psychotic like schizophrenia's who exhibit this trait.
The "core" character traits of these individuals are hesitant to change, therapy many assist to improve criminal behavior.
