Maybe you’re an addict. Maybe you live an alternative lifestyle. Perhaps your food stamps run perpetually low running in a dead heat with your low employment level.
Your life as a liberal is no longer in your control. Your progressive view of the world has you fearful of everything, including the government testing pollutants on you. You are down in the Democrat dumps while your party revels in your 'useful idiocy.' Your head spins with the rush of relativism when somebody discovered your Kracker Jacks box college degree. You want to “see somebody” to set things right.
What kind of mental health provider should you see, a psychiatrist or a psychologist? Which one will help you out of the bad place you’re in? Here's a guide.
- Psychiatrists can prescribe medications, psychologists cannot.
- Psychologists provide talk therapy, whereas the majority of psychiatrists do not.
- Psychiatrists earned an M.D. in medical school and spent four years in mental health residency, while psychologists earned the PhD in the discipline followed by a two-year internship for licensing.
Both are doctors in the academic sense, and both are licensed and professionally trained. Avoid the providers who call themselves counselors and therapists. These are the titles that represent the hooligans who set out a shingle to help you conclude that your deviant left-wing behaviors and beliefs are okay.
Both psychiatrists and psychologists want to help you to wellness, but how they do it differs. Examine the diplomas mounted in the office wall to distinguish between the two different degrees and where they came from. Publically and privately funded academic institutions differ in their perspectives. Determine whether you want your head bent by a UCLA whacko or a Texas-trained down-home doctor who makes house calls.
Both psychiatrists and psychologists can help you deal with issues of the head or the heart but one does it with drugs, including medical marijuana or psychotropic meds, the other with talk. Liberals often opt for both because more is better. But some choose the direct route with drugs of choice. Others prefer the course of conversation to make the choices they can’t make for themselves.
Which kind of doctor to see depends on how the liberal patient will pay them. Because psychiatrists are medical doctors, they are paid through medical insurance provided to them by the public funding mechanism known as ObamaCare. Obama cares for liberals while the rest of us pay.
Besides, where Obama’s care leaves off, Michelle comes in with all-knowing advice about what to do about mostly everything. Liberals without a clue in their heads or their hearts can be guided for free by the mental health expertise of The First Lady, who advises "turning on some music and dancing for an hour. ...[to] prepare your bodies and your minds for greatness."
Psychiatrists prefer drugs over talk because talk takes too long. Psychiatrists are less likely to listen to you for an hour on the couch than prescribing drugs for four people in that same 60 minutes. Less is more. Less for you, more for them through the goodness of government.
A psychologist, on the other hand, uses talk therapy as the tool back to health for the troubled, who self-pay for service. Why should a down-and-out liberal pay for a psychologist when the government will pay for a psychiatrist? Good question.
In the final analysis – if there was any psychoanalysis at all -- what helps with a liberal's mental health issues depends on what works. The insanity of progressivism can be redirected from the self-destruction toward which it perpetually heads or corrected completely with the Right values. The choice is yours. Many leftists have made the wrong one already.
