On Friday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported that an unnamed woman filed a civil suit against current Cincinnati Reds pitcher Alfredo Simon on Thursday. She claimed that Simon raped her and seeks $15 million in damages. The woman was an at-risk youth counselor and says she cannot return to work because of emotional distress. The suit claimed the assault occurred in April 2013 during a series against the Washington Nationals.
According to her statement, after going to the Mayfaire Renaissance Hotel with Simon, she said Simon anally raped her. Simon’s lawyer denies the allegation. After she first reported the incident to authorities, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia declined to press charges. Currently, Simon has three wins and a 1.30 ERA.
