Very rarely will any adult go an entire day without using prepositions when speaking. (This is in reference to the English language.) When writing about Chicago art, proper placement of prepositions will improve sentences’ structures.
- Indian Bowman along Michigan Avenue
- Chicago Bears Championship Buttons for the 1985 NFL Season
- Buckingham Fountain Water in Operation
- Warning Signs on Stone
- New, Metallic Bench Outside
To properly place prepositions when referring to Chicago art, speakers and writers should consider whether the art is atop, next to or under other art. Some framed photos may be aboard boats, inadequately attached to bulkheads where they could fall into Lake Michigan during strong windstorms. Rather than placing artistic, marine photos on boats where they are subject to Mother Nature’s caprices, boaters should keep these artworks on land inside stable buildings.
