After Ronnie James Dio and Vinnie Appice left Black Sabbath to form Dio's solo project, Black Sabbath was left without a singer yet again. The band eventually went with Ian Gillan, the former Deep Purple vocalist, upon the suggestion of their manager, Don Arden.
Rumor has is that the song that appears on this lineup's single recording (the "Born Again" album), named "Digital Bitch", was inspired by Arden's daughter. Her name is now Sharon Osbourne.
While "Born Again" was the only album that this lineup managed to produce, and it has been unfairly maligned by fans and media alike, there is still a lot to like about it. For one, it is the last Sabbath album to feature Bill Ward on drums. However, songs like "Zero the Hero" and "Born Again" deserve to be heard.
Of course, the band dissolved after this, which led to Tony Iommi pursuing his solo career with Glenn Hughes, which can be read about here and here.
