Brookfield Zoo, just outside of Chicago, released pictures of their two polar bears, Anana and Aussie, as well as Ron the bison, enduring the cold. They also announced the birth of a grey seal cub on New Year's Day and have released pictures, all included in the attached photo show.

Polar bears live in the coldest climates in the world, but even the polar bears found the Polar Vortex, along with the historic artic temperatures and wind chills, too much to be beared. The zoos assured those concerned that the animals have enclosures, so they are able to come in from the cold.

Brookfield Zoo closed on Mon., Jan. 6, due to the frigid weather. This was only the fourth time in Brookfield Zoo's history, dating back to 1934. that it was closed due to severe weather conditions. Staff was on hand to care for the animals.
