The pinboard-style photo sharing introduced a new look to its platform and a great opportunity to optimize your account along with its images. The community platform for data visualization and infographics, Visual.ly, released on Monday a new infographic that will optimize images for those actively using the social platform.
The infographic was put together by Social Marketing Writing-a free online resource where businesses, freelancers and others can utilize the information related to social media. The tips of the infographic are to really configure, update and enhance the content on Pinterest's platform.
The ''Cheat Sheet'' breaks down the categories for Pinterest and how brands should take advantage of the image sizes. The dimensions for the images affect the following on Pinterest: Profile Image, Pins, Boards, and images on websites.
Below will be a list of the specific dimensions for each section and a brief explanation:
- Profile Image 165 X 165 pixels
Pinterest recommends to upload square images with a 600 x 600 pixels. The image will be resized when its larger than the requirement.
- Pins 238 pixels X adjusted height
The pins in the feed will appear the majority of the time with a width of 238 pixels and the length will be configured based on the height of the image.
- Expanded Pin Size
Users clicking on any given Pin on the website will be previewed with an image of 735 pixels X the adjusted height.
The complete board size is 238 X 284 Pixels. An updated Pinterest Board will include the cover image, the Pins (thumbnails) and the follow button has the proportions of 238 X 284 pixels.

The images on outside websites need a dimension of 80 X 80 pixels. This is the minimum requirement.
