Pershing High School fracas: Over 20 taken into custody

A gang “kind of” fight broke out at Pershing High School on Wednesday, Feb. 13, on Detroit’s East side resulting in over a dozen students taken into custody, according to My Fox Detroit.

The Gang Squad responded to this gigantic brawl between students. The fight happened in the early part of the day and following in the afternoon someone threatened to blow up the school.

The good thing is, no guns were involved. Pershing does have two security guards posted at the school, which parents’ say is not enough protection. In January this year, a 17-year-old student was shot in her leg across the street from Pershing, and she was an innocent bystander.

Pershing is an Education Achievement Authority School, and some say fights are uncommon at the school.

In the midst of the positive things happening in Detroit, which Mayor Bing pointed out in the State of the City address, the schools need more patrolling then ever.

Parents please take a moment and secure your weapons so that students cannot gain access to them.
