Paranormal TV: 5 of the greatest vampires of TV

For those who remember watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, then you must remember Darla, the vampire who created Angel. Darla was played by actress, Julie Benz. She was deadly, lovely, and had her control over Angel even if he was suppose to be a good vampire and she the bad one. Though she did have her few some nice moments but she also was a very strong and menacing character that was quite manipulative. She was a favorite vampire from both shows! The one who started the whole gang of Angel, Spike, and Drusilla. Her vampire history starts around the early 1600s, when The Master turns her into a vampire. That sets her off as the vivacious vampire she is. Darla, was a great vampire character that came out of the show, sure Angel and Spike were cool too but she was like stated before, the one who started it all. She even dies and comes back in a few episodes and her control over Angel and other characters, just shows how powerful she is. Don't let the pretty looks and sweet voice full you, Darla was one bad-ass chick who even gave her life up for her own child!So that's why Darla, is one the list as one of TV greatest vampires. The Munsters, was one of the funniest shows from the 60s. It was family that was different that what was in the usual suburbs but the funny thing was, they never thought they were different. That was what was so great about the Munsters and that's what made it funny. Another factor was the cast and one in particular, was, Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster.Grandpa Munster is a vampire who was married 166 times, his age varies in some episodes but it can be accepted he was born in 1367 because his gravestone does state it. Either way, Grandpa Munster is one smart vampire, he has his own laboratory and never quits making inventions even if they don't turn out. He turns himself in a wolf and a bat at times also.In some episodes, he has even been called, Dracula. So, Grandpa Munster is a cool vampire character, he has a sense of humor but probably wouldn't mind biting your neck either.What can we say about Maila Nurmi, other than that her staged  named was Vampira and she made history, as the first horror hostesss which her show was, "The Vampira Show." She really did set the standard for horror hosts. She was also in Ed Wood's infamous film, "Plan  9 From Outer Space," which now has become a cult film. She was also in the movie, "The Beat Generation" which she played a beatnik. Interesting fact, she was billed as Vampira in the movie credits.Her appearance made her the perfect vampire lookalike, alluring but yet scary! She'll always be remembered for her character, which she deserves to be never forgotten. She graced peoples television's as the immortal host who had a fetish for low budget movies. She paved the way for other horror hosts and hostesses. So Vampira, is a cult figure who is part of the great vampire characters that were on TV.View the list »
"Dark Shadows," the Gothic Soap Opera created by Dan Curtis, took over daytime TV with it's supernatural story-lines and because of it's one character, Barnabas Collins. Collins was portrayed by the late and great, Johnathan Frid. Still to this day, "Dark Shadows," is TV show that is popular with fans and a cult classic.Barnabas Collins was a 175-year-old vampire who was awaken by Willie Loomis, which was tough luck for Willie. When Barnabas first came on the show he was pretty evil, kidnapping Maggie Evans after that didn't work, he tried to get the governess, Victoria. He also was pined for by Dr. Julia Hoffman, so he was a ladies man. He was known for his cruelty (much to Willie's dismay) but he also helped save the Collins family too.So in conclusion, Barnabas was the conflicted vampire that had his evil points and he was also the hero of the show. It depends what episodes your watching but either way, he's one of the most memorable vampires of TV.

  • The vampire, Nick Knight who was portrayed by two actors, Rick Springfield (TV movie) and Geraint Wyn Davis in the TV show,  Forever Knight. The TV only being 3 seasons does have a nice cult following. His history is, he was turned into a vampire around 1228 by Lucian LaCroix, who is both a manipulative and sometimes helpful master. Nick grows tired of being a vampire so tries to become human which gets LaCroix upsets all the time about it. He can't understand why Nick has these qualities and why he works for the police force. Nick is a cop for the Metropolitan Toronto Police which just because he's a good vampire doesn't make him a weak one. Nick cleans the streets by using vampire abilities. Even though he destines to become human he does use what LaCroix gave him.It's a cop drama (also has humor) with a vampire as the lead, Nick Knight, even his name is cool. So that's the story of Nick Knight and why he's part of the great vampires of TV series.
