Special thanks to Diane S. and Joyce H-W.
Gather your tools so they will be close-by. You will need scissors, oval template cutters, glue stick and a cutting mat.Find a flat surface and cut out all the caps, backgrounds, umbrellas and ribbon.
Select you color mats and cut them out to be 5 x 7 inces. Ensure you have enough mats for each invitation and that they are all the same size.
Draw your umbrella stem and cut out the oval by placing the template cutter over the area you want to trim. Press firmly on your cut and heal board. Lift and set aside.
Oval Cutting - background
Cut out the oval by placing the template cutter over the area you want to trim and it should be about 1/4 of an inch wider than the umbrella oval. Press firmly on your cut and heal board as you cut with your blade. Lift and set aside.
Layering the cut outs
Once all the pieces are cut out lay them out and line them up. Use your glue stick or double sided adhesive tape to adhere the layers to each other. Let dry.
Placing the layers
As you glue each layer place the background oval in the center of the 4 x 6 rectangle. Then place the umbrella stem in the center of the background oval.
The base is Completed
Now you have completed the layer that the rest of the card will build upon as you add more embellishments. It's time to take out the other pieces that you have cut.
Ribbon with sticky tape
Take the ribbon and cut a 5 inch piece so it completely goes across the invitation. Use double stick tape to adhere it. Remove the paper backing and press it firmly on your card after you have glued or taped down the background.
Pre tape your pieces
To make the process go faster - layout all the ribbon and cut all the tape and combine them. Then as you press them to each card you will only have to remove the backing.
Assemble All the Pieces
Layout your pieces: Umbrella tops (adhere the foam lifts to each). The ribbon with the double stick tape and the cards with the backgrounds glued down.
Add the cap and embellishments
Lay the ribbon down and press it firmly. Then peel the backing from the foam lifts and press the umbrella in the space between the stem and the tip. Be sure to add a gem flower to each umbrella top.
Add the tag
Add a Baby Shower tag to each invitation. Cut out the curved panel background and the pre-printed baby shower tag in the same curved panel shape approximately 1/4 smaller. Use two foam lifters to adhere the pieces together by centering the Baby Shower tag on top of the background. Next add double-sided tape to the tag and adhere the tag by overlapping the ribbon on the card.
Now the invitation is almost complete. Just add an owl sticker to the upper left corner to add whimsy to the invite. Place them into the envelopes and you are ready to label them and hand them out to your guests.
