Essentially, within out bodies exist a series of energetic points called chakras. Each has their own distinct radiance, functionality and are characterized by a single color. By visualizing each of these chakra centers, human beings are able to achieve greater harmony and balance. This is because the seven chakras correspond to various levels of our inner consciousness, biological systems, and personal willpower.
When we have blockages in ourselves, these are breakdowns in our psychological, emotional, and physiological natures that are related to these seven chakra energy centers. Simple visualization of the appropriate color and region of our bodies, can give way to spiritual healing to ourselves. This has been practiced by all religious and mystic traditions including Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, and ancient paganism. The seven chakras are used in transcendental meditation and the martial arts, as well. Using chakra meditation can be incorporated into any belief system, because it does not rely on a deity or higher power to be relevant.
An individual does not need faith or belief in the seven chakras, their impact does not rely on these.
Just doing basic visualization for minutes or moments is enough. It certainly is worth trying, if an individual is in physical need or spiritual crisis.
