"Once Upon a Time" fans were thrilled to learn that "Frozen" ice queen Elsa won't be family-less on the ABC TV series. Her sister Anna is also set to make an appearance on the show, so Oncers and "Frozen" fans have a lot of dream casting to do.
According to a June 11 report by Perez Hilton, the sisters will also be joined by Anna's love interest Kristoff. Unfortunately, there's no word on how much time the family will get to spend together – it's possible that Elsa was imprisoned in Mr. Gold's vault for so long that her sister and Kristoff are long gone. If this is the case, fans might only get to meet the cute "Frozen" couple in a few flashbacks.
It has been revealed that "Once Upon a Time" will show Kristoff adjusting to life in the castle with Anna and Elsa, so at some point the show will pick up where the movie left off. The "Once" version of Elsa is reportedly worried about what might happen if she loses control of her powers again, and viewers will probably find out when "Once Upon a Time" finally returns this fall.
While Oncers and "Frozen" fans wait for casting news, they might be tempted to pester showrunner Adam Horowitz on Twitter by suggesting their top picks to play Elsa and Anna. However, instead of harassing the man who holds the fate of the beloved "Frozen" characters in his hands, it might be a better idea to check out the list of casting options below.
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Elsa
Sarah Michelle Gellar's TV series, "The Crazy Ones," was recently cancelled. However, one disappointment shouldn't stop the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star from abandoning the small screen, and she'd definitely slay it as Elsa. Sarah might be a little older than what "Once Upon a Time" is looking for, however.
Dianna Agron as Elsa
This "Glee" actress has the right wide-eyed, youthful look to play the beloved "Frozen" ice queen, but her fans might have a hard time seeing her as a character who isn't the cheerleader queen bee of McKinley High.
Yvonne Strahovski as Elsa
If Yvonne isn't too busy with "24: Live Another Day," she'd make an excellent Elsa. The statuesque stunner comes complete with a built-in fan base because of her roles on multiple shows like "Chuck" and "Dexter."
Maggie Grace as Elsa
Quite a few "Lost" stars have popped up on "Once Upon a Time," so it wouldn't be shocking if Maggie Grace got cast as Elsa. Oncers probably have "Lost" stars on the brain since Rebecca Mader recently appeared on the show as the Wicked Witch.
Brittany Snow as Elsa
Brittany Snow definitely has the perfect last name for the role of ice queen Elsa. The "Pitch Perfect" star also has experience working on a Disney mash-up featuring fairy tale characters – Brittany voiced the character Naminé in "Kingdom Hearts II."
Emily Kinney as Anna
If Emily Kinney's "The Walking Dead" character really did become cannibal chow, perhaps the actress could find work on "Once Upon a Time." She did manage to melt Daryl Dixon's frozen heart on the show, so she'd have no problem dealing with icy Elsa.
Michelle Trachtenberg as Anna
If Sarah Michelle Gellar gets cast as Elsa, of course Michelle Trachtenberg would have to be Anna! "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fans would love to see the Summer sisters reunited on "Once Upon a Time."
Anna Kendrick as Anna
Anna Kendrick definitely has the right name for the role of Elsa's sister. The "Pitch Perfect" actress also has experience with fairy tales after getting cast as Cinderella in "Into the Woods."
Mandy Moore as Anna
This former pop princess is definitely adorable enough and spunky enough to play Anna on "Once Upon a Time." She also has an "in" with Disney since she voiced Rapunzel in the movie "Tangled."
Emily Browning as Anna
Emily Browning has a round face and huge eyes just like Anna. In fact, she's the actress on this list who looks the most like the "Frozen" princess. And after her role in the crazy movie "Sucker Punch," she's well-prepared for anything that the dangerous "Once Upon a Time" world can throw at her.
