You know, out of the 13 months of the year, October is probably the most exciting when it comes to holidays. Forget December, all the Christmas crap is carted out already and it’s till warm outside. Won’t be long before those stupid Old Navy Noel commercials start popping up. The thing I hate about Christmas is that I have to actually go out and buy stuff for people.
But I digress.
October is the most fun. Down South it’s still warm. Up North it’s still semi-warm. The leaves are changing colors and apple cider. And don’t forget Halloween with the snotty neighborhood kids who annual TP my yard and egg my windows.
October is chock full of holidays, maybe the best holiday month of them all.
Oktoberfest, National Golf Day, Sweetest Day and Increase Your Psychic Powers Day. National Moldy Cheese Day is October 9. I’m always feeling bleu on that holiday. International Skeptics Day is the 13th. I don’t know about that one. Mother-in-Law Day is October 30 and I always send out a card to all four of my ex mother-in-laws. Columbus Day and National Dessert Day both fall on the October 14. I always celebrate with a nice tiramisu. National Mole Day is October 23 and my hunt for fresh mole asses continues. The holidays go on and on in October, too numerous to mention.
The list today contains three recipes for often overlooked October holidays. Check them out.
Happy October everybody.
