President Obama was in Rockville, MD on Thursday speaking at a construction site when all the excitement was taking place on Pennsylvania Ave. He returned on Friday and he, along with Vice-President Joe Biden, decided to take a stroll down Pennsylvania Ave. to show that life was back to normal following the police shooting of Miriam Carey. While the president was doing his best to show some kind of normality in the area, things are far from normal and it will take more than a photo opt to fix it.

While he and Biden were picking up lunch, FBI agents were scrubbing the apartment of Miriam Carey trying to gather any evidence that could possibly give them a motive as to why the 34-year-old would drive from Stamford, CT to Washington, D.C. with a one-year-old child in the back seat. Reports have been verified that Carey was suffering from Postpartum Depression, and prescriptions were discovered in her apartment that were consistent with drugs prescribed to someone suffering from a mental illness.

Later Friday evening, the Carey family held a news briefing in Brooklyn, NY in which they made it abundantly clear that Miriam did not deserve to die in the manner that she did. Amy Carter Jones who is a registered nurse, along with her sister Valarie Carey who is a retired police sergeant, vowed to get some answers as to why the police used deadly force in a situation where in their opinion did not warrant it. The Carey family has obtained legal counsel but have yet to disclose whether they will be seeking legal action against the Metropolitan Washington Police.
