Norman Reedus is a real people person. He loves to be around fans at conventions (and everywhere else) and has no problems being photographed when walking down the street or being handed a baby to cuddle in the middle of a supermarket. But when it comes to interviews on talk shows? The Mr. Nerd side of Reedus comes out in a big way!
It doesn’t help that the various evening talk shows and daytime gabfests tend to pigeonhole their guests into answering the same questions over and over. Poor Norman – how many times on national TV has he had to repeat the same story about receiving a used breast implant as a gift from a fan? Between the shoulder shrugging and the nervous laughter, Reedus is far from a polished interviewee.
On March 5, Norman will have a chance to sit in the hot seat of the newly crowned Tonight Show Prince Jimmy Fallon. Will Fallon trot out the same old stories about crazy fans? Here’s hoping that Fallon will force Reedus into new territory – perhaps a duet of some kind? A blind-folded crossbow bulls eye contest? Or perhaps an SNL-type skit that pushes Reedus into a comedic role – something fans have never really seen him do.
Whatever happens on The Tonight Show, it is still the big time. Reedus has hit the stardom jackpot, and he is definitely sharing his fifteen minutes of fame with as many high-profile celebrities and red carpet events as possible.
Reedus has made the rounds of many of the most popular talk shows, including his famous Conan appearance with other Walking Dead Cast Mates – Conan was able to get Reedus to stop licking Melissa McBride long enough to answer a few questions about the show and his popularity. Visit ontheredcarpet.com for video of the Conan show. And we’re not even counting that whole reality show-like weekend spent in Singapore with Andrew Lincoln running around shooting water guns (whatever that was).
Reedus has a reputation for being incredibly gracious to everyone he meets. Let’s hope his fifteen minutes of fame stretches on and on into hours and days, and that Daryl Dixon survives Season Four and continues to survive long into future seasons of The Walking Dead.
