New on Netflix Streaming: Oscar-nominated documentaries highlight the week

A week of sterling documentaries and recent indie dramas highlight Netflix Streaming new releases, starting today with 2013’s acclaimed documentary on the Egyptian Revolution “The Square,” which was nominated for a Best Documentary Academy Award just yesterday.

(Another Best Doc nominee which came to Netflix Streaming earlier in the week, the extraordinary and disturbing “The Act of Killing,” is also highly recommended.)

The run of well-reviewed documentaries continues with 2012’s”The Informant,” tells the story of Brandon Darby, who became an FBI informant after years as a radical. The film arrives on January 18.

Also arriving this week are a pair of recent indie dramas. 2012’s “And While We Were Here,” starring Kate Bosworth, comes to Netflix Streaming on the 18th. Arriving on the 21st is “Unfinished Song,” which boasts a stellar cast led by Terence Stamp.
