A week of intriguing Netflix Streaming releases kicks off today with the debut of Joss Whedon’s modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” starring Amy Acker, Nathan Fillion and other members of Whedon’s “troupe.'
Saturday brings the debut of “Pain & Gain,” the black-comedy crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson as a pair of bodybuilders. The film, inspired bya true story, was directed by Michael Bay, who takes a departure from his usual large-scale blockbusters for something a little bit smaller in scope. Anthony Mackie and Tony Shalhoub co-star.
Later in the week sees the debut of one-of-a-kind comic Maria Bamford’s amazing recent standup special, “The Special Special Special.” The special features Bamford performing in her living room to an audience consisting of only her mom and dad.
