Talk radio up until the late 1980s was entirely a local phenomenon, talk shows were local shows about local issues on AM radio. And then in 1988, when Rush Limbaugh went into national syndication, the industry was revolutionized and changed to something entirely different. The success of Limbaugh has paved the way for dozens of other nationally syndicated talk shows. None of this success has taken away from the success of The Rush Limbaugh Show, which has continued to grow as many other talk show hosts have found success in national syndication.
The rise of talk radio along with the success of other news outlets such as the Fox News Channel and others shows that citizens are seeking news sources other than that available with the three major news networks and CNN. Many independent and conservative citizens have become tired of the bias in the major networks news departments and seeking alternatives.
This list is the top five talk show hosts of syndicated radio.
