New cast could be a dream for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in 2013

The all-star season of “Dancing with the Stars” was a ratings disappointment for ABC and the numbers have been on the decline. Longtime fans complain that the “stars” are not really stars at all, but reality celebrities that pack no true star power. A new dream cast could be just the ticket to a blockbuster season and ratings bonanza for “DWTS” in 2013.

Dancing with the Stars” debuted in the summer of 2005, when Kelly Monaco was crowned the first mirror ball champion of the dance floor. The highest scoring celebrities to date are Kristi Yamaguchi from season 6, Gilles Marini from season 8, Melissa Rycroft and Shawn Johnson from season 15, and Katherine Jenkins from season 14. Athletes usually do very well and have won six seasons and placed second four times for a collective success rate of 36%. To date, many consider Kenny Mayne as the worst celebrity to ever compete on “DWTS.”

So, which stars could turn the ship around and make “Dancing with the Stars” a huge hit in 2013? To re-vamp itself, the show needs to cast true celebrities that have the right moves, but little or no ballroom training. Be sure to check out the list of celebrities that could make up a “Dancing with the Stars” dream cast in 2013.

“Dancing with the Stars” premieres on March 16 on ABC and the new cast will be announced live on on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
