Bridgestone Arena in Nashville is host to the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four for 2014 with the championship games being played out right downtown, bringing all the excitement to our town, even though none of our Tennessee teams are in the final games.
Last year: 2012–13 women's final four - there were 64 teams to begin with, and the site of the final four games took place at New Orleans Arena, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The champions of the women's final four for 2013 was Connecticut (8th title, 8th title game, 14th Final Four) and the runner-up was Louisville (2nd title game). The semi-finalists in 2013 were California (1st Final Four) and Notre Dame (5th Final Four). (http://en.wikipedia.org/)
The current four finalists are Maryland and Notre Dame, which are playing first, and Stanford and Connecticut which play next. The winner of each game will meet up on Tuesday at the Bridgestone Arena to determine the 2014 champions of the NCAA Women's Final Four.

Late note from NCAA webpage: Connecticut beats Stanford; Notre Dame wins over Maryland; title game will be Connecticut (39-0) vs Notre Dame (37-0) on April 8, 2014 in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena. This is being called 'The Clash of the Unbeatens'.
Later note from NCAA webpage: Connecticut women's basketball team took home the trophy for 2014, making their run and breaking Tennessee's record of wins, with their status now at 40-0.
